Type Locality and Naming

By the village of Degibadam, Surkhan Mountains, Southwest Gissar. I.E. Gubin, 1937 (164, p.124). Stratotype in the reference section of Kugitanga (Khodzharyz), Southwest Gissar. Earlier (382, table 13), the suite was included in the Gurud Fm, later (383, table 4) it was restored in the volume of I.E. Gubin (339; 446; 254).

Synonym: Degibadam Suite, Дегибадамская св.


Lithology and Thickness

In the Charjou stage, three subzones are widespread, while in the Bukhara stage, only the upper subzone is present.

Upper subzone: at the bottom - sandstones, higher up - siltstone (aleurolites), argillites, sandstones, coals. Thickness 7-97m.

Middle subzone: frequent alternation of sandstones, siltstone (aleurolites), argillites, limestones. M. up to 97m.

Lower subzone: siltstone (aleurolites), claystone (argillites), coals, sandstones (interbedding of coastal-marine and continental). Thickness 15-35m.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

Lies with erosion or transgressively on the Gurud Fm, Paleozoic.

Upper contact

It is overlain conformably or with erosion by the Tanygiduval Fm or Baysun-Jur Fm.

Regional extent

Southwest Gissar and Mechetli. Wells of the Bukhara-Karshinsky region.

Fossils

Upper subzone: Contains large plant remains - Pachypteris lanceolata Brongn. and others; marine bivalve mollusks - Myopholas sp.; freshwater bivalve mollusks Pseudocardinia sp. (383, table 4).

Middle subzone: Contains ammonites Parkinsonia doneziana Boriss., P. subharmonulata Khud., marine bivalve mollusks - Camptonectes subgiganteus Rep., Myopholas obbongus Rep.; foraminifers: layers with Ammodiscus baticus kyzylsajensis and Cribrostomoides (?) kumurlensis: Ammodiscus baticus kyzylsajensis Kurb., Cribrostomoides (?) kumurlensis Kurb., Globuligerina balakhmatovae Mor. (27, table 4).

Lower subzone: With ammonites - Parkinsonia sp., marine bivalve mollusks - Myopholas sp.; freshwater bivalve mollusks - Pseudocardinia sp.; large plant remains - Coniopteris hymenophylloides (Brongn.) Sew. and others.


Age 

The age of the Degibadam Fm is determined by the late Bajocian. A. attributed the suite to the Bajocian-Bathonian; a group of authors (382, table 13) distinguished the Machayilin Fm, Kempyrtubin Fm, and lower part of the Shelkan Fm subzones at this level, but attributed them to the Gurudian suite; at the Samarkand conference, the subzones were dated to the Bajocian-Bathonian. Along V.V. Kurbatov (383, table 4), the discovery of early Bajocian ammonites Ozaniceras (Gonolkites) at the bottom of the Tanygiduval Fm influenced the late Bajocian age of the upper subzone of the Degibadam Fm, in which marine bivalve mollusks and foraminifers known from the middle subzone were also found.
